General room – entrance
In this room, which was previously the kitchen-dining room, the traditional Galician kitchen, which was the original kitchen of the house, will be conserved, as well as furnishings characteristic of the period.
It will be located in what used to be the animal stables and will be dedicated to the exhibition of objects from Cuba related to immigration.

The intention of the project is to faithfully recreate Ángel Castro’s home at the time when his family lived there. In the first half of the 18th century Galicia became the second region in the north of the peninsula that sent the most emigrants to the New World, and the number of emigrants increased in the following century.

Éste se va y aquél se va,
y todos, todos se van.
Galicia, sin hombres quedas
que te puedan trabajar.

Rosalía de Castro, Follas Novas, 1880

Based on the architectural project, a series of information panels were set up on four main themes: Galician emigration to the Americas, the life of Ángel Castro Argiz, the visits of the Castro Ruz family to Láncara and their role in the history of Cuba.
